Queen City - Our Story
After graduating from University like so many other women, Rhea Anne Cresencia found it hard to maintain lasting friendships or develop new ones with any true depth. Life changes and people grow apart. It was early September of 2013 when she sat in her Charlotte, N.C. home looking online for an organization to join that centered on friendship, social events and community service. It was during her search she stumbled upon Delta Kappa Nu, an Australia based sorority that fit exactly what she was looking for.
Rhea corresponded with Elise Melican, President of Delta Kappa Nu and received the nod to get started. Several Meetups were arranged online and three women gathered for the first time on October 22nd. Rhea Anne Cresencia, Jamie Whiteman, and Torey Schaefer met and immediately hit it off. That night, Delta Kappa Nu Queen City was born. Ambitious, the three of them set out to recruit additional members and become the first Delta Kappa Nu Chapter in the United States. |
Delta Kappa Nu -History
Two women got together in 2010 with the idea to create a non-collegiate social sorority in Australia. Gathering their friends and women they thought would make a great contribution, they set about founding a sorority that would strengthen their existing friendship by adding the bond of sisterhood. Social events were planned to be the main focus of the sisterhood, but with a definite streak of philanthropy as well, Delta Kappa Nu was founded in May 2011.
